Slow Man weathers the Storm

Oh, I see. It’s going to be like that is it? I just wrote one of my best posts ever, and had a hand spaz and the whole thing deleted itself. Now I have to hit save after every sentence.

I dragged myself out of bed today at 10 am, not sure if I’m still arm wrestling the flu, or depression. I had myself a good cry, and inserted several hundred words into my offline computer. Those are the words that have to pass through The Editor part of my brain before they are fit for human consumption. That’s for another day.

I feel like Slow Man in the snowbank: can’t move forward, can’t go backward,  half covered over, barely visible to the world.  One day the sun will come out and melt the snow, and I will feel useful but today is not that day, and it’s alright.

I noticed today that I have over 4,000 followers, so at least something I am saying must be connecting with other humans on the globe. I have followers from Japan, China, Australia, Holland, Germany, Canada, Ukraine; I’ve even had hits from Alaska and Hawaii (yes I know it’s the same country, but it’s still exciting). The most common topic seems to be The Orphan Spirit. I plan to write more on that subject, and maybe even venture into the world of video and YouTube for that one. It’s on the list. I just need to do a little more research.

So, readers, where are you from? What do you like to read about? What pets do you have? Where do you get a decent burger in your town? Star Wars or Star Trek? What is your favorite flavor ice cream? What would you do if you won the lottery? Pineapple on Pizza: Yes or No? What was your first job?

I would love to hear some of your stories today. If you have time, leave a comment.

  1. I am form the Netherlands, I have no pets, but I walk with two friends who have a dog. which I both like. I am not a big fan of burgers. but if i have to choose one it would be a chicken burger, no idea who has the best one in town. My son watched a year ago the first star wars movie and he decided that he wanted to see them all. so the last few months we watched episode 1 till 6. almost there i would say. Definitely pineapple on the pizza. One of my favorite toppings. what I would if I would win the lottery. I think fly back home more often, pay for my sons college and travel around the world. My first job, when I was young I worked during my summer vacation at a farm. Really nice outdoor work.

    1. Hi Monique! Thank you for commenting. And you answered every question!! I was hoping people would answer at least one, so you win the prize, answering them all ! I will think of a prize for you…..
I am so glad that you like dogs, and your friends. 🙂

  2. So, Author Dearest, I reside in Cornwall NY. I pretty much read whatever is present (cereal boxes, magazines at doctor’s office, menus, etc.) but am drawn to biographies/autobiographies. Pets…the best dog in the universe, my Morkie Toby Elvis. I usually get the best burgers at home where I have control of size, doneness and condiments. I choose the Bright Morning Star. Most recent favorite flavor is Friendly’s Forbidden Chocolate. If I won the lottery, I would smile nonstop and spend quality cruising time with family and friends. We are talking pizza…I can do any flavor except anchovy. First job…babysat at local hotel, thankfully very short-lived. So happy you have thousands of fans and growing. Write on, friend!

    1. Good morning Delia, thanks for stopping by!! I used to read much more on cereal boxes before I got my iPhone. 😁. I’m so glad you got a fog, somedays they force us to get out if bed when we don’t feel like it!! Friendly’s forbidden chocolate sounds awesome–i like Stewarts Death by Chocolate.

  3. I love pineapple on pizza almost as much as bacon. I read biographies, multi-generational stories, love fiction. I have also written 6 books. I like Star Wars better than Star Trek. I am now living with my son and DIL so we have a small dog and 3 cats between us. I’ve spent the majority of my life in South Bend, In. Although I was born in Chicago, I haven’t spent a lot of time there. I prefer my own hamburgers too since I can add whatever spices I wish including Worcheshire sauce. Peanut butter ice cream. My first real job was working as a secretary for a local and long distance moving company. If I won the Lottery, I would take my extended family on a 2 week cruise, pay off my sister’s house mortgage and my son’s house mortgage and help my other sister rent a bigger apartment.

    1. Hi Terri, thanks for commenting. I also like biographies, I every life has something interesting about it! I did not know you have written 6 books!! Are they on Amazon?
I also love Peanut butter in ice cream, and just about peanut butter everything else (cookies, candy, sandwiches….)
That’s nice of you that you would help out your family with your lottery winnings!

  4. I am from Western KY, I currently live in East Texas. I love to read mystery thrillers or anything with a good story as long as it has a happy ending. I do not like books or movies that I KNOW will make me cry. I do enough of that without being stimulated by something on purpose. I also like motivational books. We have 2 puppy dogs.. a Springer Spaniel (Parker) and a Yorkie (Pookie) They are our babies and I can’t imagine my life without them.
We have a couple of good burger places where we live, but the best one is probably at a hole in the wall joint called Benson’s. Been around for a long time!
Star Trek!! I like Star Wars ok, but I just can’t get into the story line. I have watched every single spinoff of Star Trek and love them all! Soft serve chocolate ice cream is my absolute favorite and would you believe I can’t find it where I live??? I can get it back home at the Dairy Queen but the DQs down here do not have it 😦
Funny you should ask about the lottery. We have talked about it a lot. It would depend on how much we won. But if we won the big one, we would call an attorney friend of ours to handle everything and try to stay as anonymous as possible. We would give huge amount to our church and some to friends… retire of course and travel the world.
I do not like pineapple on pizza… who does that??? lol 😀
My first job was at a McDonald’s. It wasn’t bad and I learned a lot. I had a couple of other jobs at Wendy’s during college and a pizza place in Dallas, but my favorite job was working for Xerox as a corporate operator. I got to talk to people from all over the world and I worked with some awesome people.

    1. I agree about the pizza– I do not like pineapple on pizza!! I have friends from other countries that like it, so we tease each other. That’s very troubling that you can’t get soft chocolate ice cream where you live, I couldn’t imagine!!! Do you ever read Mary Higgins Clark? Thanks for your comments!!
