The Greatest Herb

mustard tree

What is smaller than all the seeds on the earth,

but after it is planted,

it grows up and becomes greater than all other herbs?

(Hint: It shoots out large branches so that the birds of the air may nest under its shade.)

Answer: The Mustard Seed.   (Mark 4:30-32)

Jesus had asked his disciples:

To what shall we liken the Kingdom of God?

New King James Version (NKJV)

The Parable of the Mustard Seed

30 Then He said, “To what shall we liken the kingdom of God? Or with what parable shall we picture it? 31 It is like a mustard seed which, when it is sown on the ground, is smaller than all the seeds on earth; 32 but when it is sown, it grows up and becomes greater than all herbs, and shoots out large branches, so that the birds of the air may nest under its shade.”

Okay, so now I have a question.

In Luke 17:6 it says:

So the Lord said, “If you have faith as a mustard seed, you can say to this mulberry tree, ‘Be pulled up by the roots and be planted in the sea,’ and it would obey you.

I find it interesting that it uses the word “planted” in the sea, not just tossed into the sea as garbage but planted, as in, maybe it can grow in the sea?
What do you think?
