…this HOPE we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and steadfast….Hebrews 6:19 (NKJV)
When I read this today, I realized that I had always thought of the anchor as a picture of hope, and it’s attached to the “boat” (or “ark”) that is Jesus.
My Bible has a comment: ” An anchor is only as secure as that to which it is fastened.” Well, we know God is secure….
But what about the ROPE?
What is the rope made out of?
What if the rope can’t hold the weight of the anchor? What if the rope breaks and becomes separated from the ship?
Could FAITH be the rope? Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. NOW Faith is the SUBSTANCE of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. (the evidence of things not seen in the natural realm, but seen in the spiritual realm.)
What other things could the rope be made out of?
