Up until last week, I had a Nook and I knew I could buy books from Barnes and Noble, and download them to my Nook and read them. So far so good.

Then my Nook died. Then I got the flu, so I have not been out to Barnes and Noble to find out what the Dickens is wrong with my dead Nook.

Meanwhile, I published my book as an e-book, because it is so much cheaper than self-publishing a paper book, and I don’t want to cart paper books around with me to sell like a flea market worker.

After some experimentation I learned a few things:

If you own a Kindle, you can purchase a book from Amazon, and download it to the Kindle.

If you don’t own a Kindle, you can download a Kindle Reader for your PC. So if you purchase a book on Amazon.com, you can download it and read it on your laptop.

If you have a Smart Phone, you can download the Kindle app to your phone, and purchase and e-book from Amazon and read it on your phone.

With a Smart Phone, you can also download a Nook app to the phone, purchase a Nook book from Barnes and Noble, and read it on your phone.

Also, in my case, I am able to read my other already purchased books for the Nook (it must hide them in a cloud somewhere) I just need to be careful not to use up all my space on my phone by using it as an e-Reader; it’s easy to get carried away, and use up all my space with books.

So I am still learning this new world of eReaders, but honestly, I still prefer paper books.
