Joel is my guest blogger today:
STAY ON MESSAGE
A. We have a message to bring to the world.
1. There is a Gospel.
“8 But God commends his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” (Romans 5:8)
“16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” (John 3:16)
2. We are to preach that Gospel.
“13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. 14 How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher?” (Romans 10:13-14)
“15 And he said unto them, Go yoü into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.” (Mark 16:15)
B. Do not get distracted.
1. Do not get distracted by the present.
“19 And we know that we are of God, and the whole world lies in wickedness.” (1 John 5:19)
“22 He also that received seed among the thorns is he that hears the word; and the care of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, choke the word, and he becomes unfruitful.” (Matthew 13:22)
2. Do not get distracted by the past.
“13 Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, 14 I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 3:13-14)
“16 No man puts a piece of new cloth unto an old garment, for that which is put in to fill it up takes from the garment, and the rent is made worse. 17 Neither do men put new wine into old bottles: else the bottles break, and the wine runs out, and the bottles perish: but they put new wine into new bottles, and both are preserved.” (Matthew 9:16-17)
I definitely get distracted!
