I watched the movie, “Pilgrims Progress” last night. I started thinking about one character in particular, who sounded like present-day scientists: “There is no such thing as Heaven or God, it can’t be proven scientifically.” Now I know there are a few scientists who set out to prove there was no God, but met Jesus along the way. I don’t really understand a lot about scientific theory, yet I met Jesus. 🙂
During my prayer time this morning, the Lord led me to the following scriptures. I read them in the amplified version, and they are paraphrased here.
The reason that the world does not know us (who we are: children of God) is that they do not know Him. Now, at this present time, we are children of God, and what we will be has not yet been made known. But, we know that when Jesus appears, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is. Everyone who has this hope in Him purifies himself (or herself) just as He is pure. – 1 John 3:1c-3
— As we get closer to the return of Jesus, and we sense the time coming, we are striving to get the sin out of our lives. The world thinks this is strange.
And this is how we know that He lives in us: we know it by the Spirit that He gave us. — 1 John 3:24
— I may not be a scientist, but I know what I know. I believe in the Spirit of God.
We are the sons (and daughters) of God through faith in Christ Jesus. — Galatians 3:26
When the right time came, God sent His Son Jesus, born of a woman, born under the law, to redeem those who were under the law, so that we can receive the full rights of sons (and daughters). And because we are sons, God sent the Spirit of His Son into our hearts, the Spirit who calls out, “Abba, Father.” We are NOW children of God, and God has also made us heirs. –Galatians 4:4-7
God our Father has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ. –Ephesians 1:3
For He chose us in Him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in His sight. Because of His love He predestined us to be adopted as His own sons and daughters. — Ephesians 1:5
— And then one of my favorites came to me:
For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. For it is written, “He catches the wise in their own craftiness”. 1 Cor 3:19
— For men to think they are smarter than God is truly foolishness.
