Beginner’s Guide to The Art Of War

The “Beginner” is me! I finally got my hands on a copy of this timeless classic, first written somewhere between 700 and 279 B.C. Of course my copy is translated into American English. Translators of course will differ on their views. I am interested in “war” in both the physical and spiritual realms.

At this point, I am merely skimming pages, looking at maps and illustrations. But then one statement jumped out at me:

Deception.

Lies.

In Spiritual Warfare, remember THE DEVIL IS A LIAR.

In this scripture, Jesus is speaking to the Pharisees:

John 8:44
You are of your father the devil, and the desires of your father you want to do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own resources, for he is a liar and the father of it.

Satan likes to tell us we are worthless, alone, and that God is not going to help us. If we believe it, we will live as a victim. Deception. Lies.

All warfare is based on deception.

Lesson 1 over. 🙂
