In The presence of his ememies

Presence. While they are watching. While they are yelling and throwing stones—God prepares a table for us.

In 2 Samuel 16:5-14 we read about King David. Shimei yelled at him, and cursed him and called him ‘bloodthirsty’. Abishai, King David’s servant offered to go take off his head. David said no, just let him be. He agreed with his adversary.

King David and his men walked along the road. Shimei followed and cursed and threw rocks at them and kicked up dust.

The King and the people became weary; so they refreshed themselves there.

Right in the middle of the road, with Shimei yelling at them, they stopped and refreshed themselves.

I think we need to learn this skill! We are used to having times of peace and times of chaos but if 2020 taught us anything, these times overlap. We need to refresh ourselves in the middle of the chaos.
