Years ago when I had my first car and my first custom car stereo system, I did mix a tape and we played it until it got that “window sound” –which means it was time to throw it out the window. 😉
Many years have passed since then, and life has changed me. So here are the songs I would include in my Mix Tape so you can begin to understand who I now am.
1. Casting Crowns – Praise you in this storm
When times get tough, I put this on and scream/sing. Well, more screaming than singing.
2. Mozart – Marriage of Figaro
My cousin Michael introduced me to “Wolfie”. Michael has since left this planet, and I inherited his Mozart cds. I look forward to the day I see him again.
3. James Taylor – Fire and Rain
The good, the bad, and the in between: Life
4. Carole King – Smackwater Jack
Down-home reality.
5. Muse – Uprising
Every true American has a little Rebellion in their heart–Rebellion is what founded our country. My son turned me on to this song.
6. Dropkick Murphys – I’m Shipping Up to Boston
Rowdy Irish guys. Another scream song.
7. Tara Nevins – Stars Fell On Alabama
I am a sucker for some fiddle. This song was also covered by Ella Fitzgerald, Frank Sinatra and Billie Holiday. And Jimmy Buffet
8. Keith Green – The Easter Song
The Gospel in 4 minutes. I also wish I could hit those high notes like Keith did.
9. Matt Redman – Better is One Day
I love me some Matt Redman. And I’ve been known to play this song 10 times in a row.
10. Lincoln Brewster – Salvation is Here
REAL CHRISTIANS ARE NOT BORING!!!
Well that’s enough for now…. My Tape Mix Masterpiece for the Daily Prompt.
(As far as I know, all the links to YouTube work if you want to try them out. I would recommend Carole King.)
I used to love the Dropkick Murphys! Now I associate that song specifically with my favorite movie – The Departed!!!

I was introduced to that song by that movie, the Departed. That movie is what I call a “wild ride movie” –my favorite kind. I like action/adventure/suspense…I don’t normally go for “Chick Flicks”. 🙂
