Do you like Numbers?
Well, Mom told me that there is a book in the Bible named “Numbers.”
In Numbers, Chapter 6, verses 22-26, God told Moses:
The Lord said to Moses:
“Tell Aaron and his sons that they are to give this special blessing to the people of Israel:
“May the Lord bless and protect you;
May the Lord’s face radiate with joy because of you;.
may he be gracious to you,
show you his favor, and give you his peace.”
(This is sometimes called the Aaronic Blessing.)
Then verse 27 says:
” This is how Aaron and his sons shall call down my blessings upon the people of Israel;
and I myself will personally bless them.”
This is from the “Living Bible Translation.”
Well, the secret I learned is that God wants to bless us. We sometimes think that He is withholding good things, but He’s not. We just need wisdom to know how to ask!
This blessing is what God wants us to pray for our children. And you can personalize it. Instead of “you”, insert the name of your child or person that you are praying for.
I also learned that the original Hebrew “May the Lord” translates more accurately to “The Lord will“.
So for Mom this would become:
“The Lord will bless and protect Josh;
The Lord’s face radiate with joy because of Josh;.
and He will be gracious to Josh,
The Lord will show Josh his favor, and will give Josh His peace.”
Wow, I think that’s very powerful.
Mom has also been praying these blessings for Mr. Porter.
So I wanted to share this secret with you, and this is a secret that you can share with everyone. You don’t have to keep it quiet.
