Daily Prompt: Silver Screen

From Toy Story: Woody and Buzz fall out of the van at the gas station, and Woody (the cowboy) tries to explain to Buzz Lightyear (the astronaut) that he is a TOY! He is not a real Spaceman! He’s a child’s plaything!

Buzz looks back at Woody and explains, “You are a sad, strange little man, and you have my pity. Farewell!” And he walks away.

There have been a few times in my life I have wanted to say these exact words. When I was out in the Dating World (shiver) met a guy who was a trainer at a gym. He was short. He had alcoholic tendencies, and excelled at head games. He asked me out, then changed his mind. Then flirted with someone in front of me. Then ignored me completely.Then asked me out again. Farewell!

Then there was the Boss at one of my jobs. Yes, he was short. He explained how we were a “team”, but when I acted like a team member, I was informed that he was the Leader of the team. The word he was really looking for was Dictatorship. He wanted me to quit, but I held on until he fired me. Farewell!

There are people who want to feel important by putting down other people. If someone is under their control, it makes them feel like a “big man.” But Bullies are not real men. They are sad, strange little men!
